VRS Egr

Featured Replies

Just thought I'd post this pic of my EGR valve showing soot deposits. Anyone seen worse !!! Swapped it straight over by the way with a spare I had kicking around my garage.

How many miles is this?

71'000 miles jrjg.

Not uncommon in the slightest, good clean and you'd have been ok refitting that one. Bet the inlet manifold is as equally mucky??

Good grief.

I took mine out all together at around 110k, there was some choking of it, but nowhere near as much as your's! Probably not even half the amount.

Yes lofty, the intake is showing signs of build up. Didn't want to disturb any of it, so its on my "to do" list.

I had a quote of £200 to clean the intake manifold, including removal etc. £60 if I remove it myself

I'll be doing it myself Yaris. Fortunately we have a parts cleaning pressure washer that I can use once the thick is off it. £200 sounds very steep BTW.

spent a few days cleaning the intake, ports and egr when I was replacing the turbo. Had the bits off so might as well. Also a good time to think about catch cans as it'll only come back.
