Engine Rattling!

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

Thanks to this forum, my brake lights and reverse lights are now working.

Now, I have a different problem. For the last month or so the engine coolant has been leaking (no major loss, only gradual) and I've been topping this up. But what I am most concerned about is the engine rattling noise. I was thinking that it could be the timing belt :o but it seems to get louder when revving and to quieten/stop once the engine has warmed up halfway on the gauge. The noise seems to be getting worse lately. I did notice a loose plastic cover that I took out and the noise had stopped for a day.

Any ideas?

The car is a 1.2 Fabia from 2004, petrol,

Thanks :)

When was it last serviced? If the rattle seems to be coming from the top of the engine, it may just be that the oil is thickening up, which happens when you get near to a service.
