Vrs boost problem

Featured Replies

I bought my first vrs a month or so ago. It came with a hks evc 5 boost controller and boost gauge. I didn't think there would be any need for it, it wasn't set up properly etc took it out then took it a test drive last night and all was fine.

*the boost controller/gauge was disconnected weeks ago, only disconnected the stepping motor and pipes yesterday.

Today I drove 6 miles, it felt normal to drive but then it went into limp mode. Couldn't go over 40mph and was shaking violently, there was a noise coming from it that sounded like a washing machine doing a spin when driving (sorry not good at explaining lol)

Does it sound like it's something to do with the boost controller or is it just a coincidence that it's happened when I took it out? No warning lights came on the dash. Any help would be appreciated!

If the engine is limp mode, the CEL should light up.

I suspect a boost leak, FUBAR turbo or both.
