Insurance or not

Featured Replies

So I had some lovely little oik decide to park into the rear of my car, severly denting the boot to the point where it's going to be a new boot lid, plus respray.

Cost, depending on whether they have broken the wiper motor and boot release button/reg plate lights or not is between about £800 and £1200.

Insurance excess is £200.

So question, worth doing or go the insurance route and accept I'll just end up paying for it over the next few years?

Thoughts?

Insurance, reclaim all costs and loss of no claims.

Should have said, they didn't leave details... so it'll go down as fault.

Don't you have protected no claims or cover for hit and run?

Costs slightly more, but it's a reason I've stuck with Direct Line

If you've no other claims it will probably be worth getting it done on the insurance. Even with protected no claims your premium will go up but probably not by that much. After three years it does't count on the quotation even thought you might have to declare it.

That was really what I was looking at.

Insurance or not.

Basically if <600 hit on insurance over 3 years, do it via them.

I think it's basically an insurance job then.
