112Tsi Cam Chain Tensioner

Featured Replies

I'm still thinking about a used Skoda. I'm aware of possible Cam Chain Tensioner problems. Can anyone tell me if the 112Tsi 1.8l motor(2012) was as susceptible as the 1.2l and 2.0l diesel. Thanks for any feedback, rare Aussie Buyer

Thanks for the info. I haven't much choice in used Yetis where I am. I have bought privately in the past but this time I want a warranty, which narrows the field even more. I haven't test driven one yet I've been looking on line at a 2012 112Tsi with 65,000 klms on it. What do you think of the Skoda  1.4 l motor?

I have the EA111 16v 1.4tsi in my Superb and love it. Tugs the barge along nicely, has reasonable economy but best of all it's very quiet. The 1.4tsi usually has a six speed box with a very tall top gear (30mph = 1000rpm).

Note - On the 16v 1.4tsi there is no EGR valve (this function done using variable valve timing) and most don't have a Dual Mass Fywheel, clearly no DPF either! Clutch cylinder is also external to the gearbox and is not the unreliable concentric version fitted to some 6 speed 2.0 diesel versions

The Yeti was also fitted with this engine except the very recent versions have the totally different but very good EA211 16v tsi. If when you lift the bonnet you see an oil filter top left on the engine then it's the earlier EA111 cam chain version. If the oil filter is down below then it's the EA211
