Clutch rattle

Featured Replies

I have a 2021 Octavia petrol with 57k km on it. I've had this problem for at least a year now, it hasn't really gotten worse.

There seems to be a rattle sound coming from the clutch area, and it varies when I press the clutch pedal. Sometimes it goes away when I press the clutch pedal, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I need to hold it halfway before it goes away, Then right after that when I press or depress it again it comes back. So it's not consistent, it seems to vary a lot while pressing or depressing the clutch pedal. It's a fast 'brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr' kinda sound.

Anyone know what this could be and what I need to do about it? Clutch isn't slipping at all and works fine. Switching gears etc all work fine. I've read it could be the dual mass flywheel (does this car even have one?). But on a car with such a low mileage I find it strange to already be having problems and weird sounds.

All Skoda's do this sound. I have reported this to Skoda, and they took me for a ride in another brand spanking new Octavia and it did the exact same sound.

All Skodas?

I'm on my third and none of them have made that noise, so far 3 have been reported anecdotally and one may be a completely different noise.
