Remote fob programming?

Featured Replies

I know that a new immobiliser chip would require programming but would a new (or refurbished) circuit board require programming in the same way? (keeping original immobiliser chip).

(It is my mates Zafira, although a separate issue to his central locking problem).

I have repaired one of his remotes (battery holder fell off) but on the other one the battery holder (attached to the circuit board) is knackered and was wondering if a circuit board off another Zafira could be used and linked to the car via ignition and pressing remote button, or if it would still require proper reprogramming - even if using original immobiliser chip?

Cheers.

If the transponder key is held in the chip and isn't affected by the change in hardware then it might work.

You wouldn't know until you tried. I doubt you'll find that information online unless someone else has tried it.

You need to prog the remote to the car on the VAG cars this can be done via VCDS the imobliser side is different and as far as I am aware cannot be done via VCDS
