Mk1 to Mk2 Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Basically i have had my Mk1 Tdi VRS for a couple of years now, i love the car to bits but ive been looking recently at upgrading to the mk2 VRS.

The problem is the more i read and see regarding oil consumption, the more im slowly going off them.

are they worth buying? how much of a realistic issue is the oil consumption? and is there anything in particular to look out?

Great cars, lots to look at, best start at the pinned threads at the top of the Fabia mk2 Section.

Then this last weeks threads, and the next edition of EVO has a Guide to Buying a Mk2 Fabia vRS Twincharger.

Forum members can tell you if they have traded in a good one, or know of one for sale.

You have a 2 in 3 chance of getting a good pre 2013 CAVE engine maybe and maybe 9 out of 10 CTHE are likely to be good.

only 1,800 CAVE in the UK and 1,100 CTHE engine cars.

Thanks, thats pretty helpful. i dont like the sound of those odds on the CAVE engine, there seems to be a lot of decent low mileage pre-2012 CAVE engine ones about which makes me a bit suspicious. from what ive read on here think i might save up a tad more and hold out for a decent CTHE one.

ive had my MK1 a few years now and its never once let me down, last thing i want is to roll the dice on a mk2 and end up with a problem ridden car.

You can buy a nice CAVE engine car that has has a New Replacement Engine,(plenty around, Skoda paid for lots)

then buy a Skoda Used car Warranty for 12 months for around £300 and you are pretty well sorted and much cheapness.

Or buy a CTHE and a Skoda Used Warranty and you are sorted.

If buying at a Dealership 'Skoda or any' then you will get a Warranty, or at least you can dump it back with them if they sell a crap one and you find out quick enough,

but that can be dodgy and hard work, so buy a Skoda (VW) Warranty, after all they know the 'Known Issues',

yet sell a Warranty then no squirming out allowed.

If the car has had a Skoda (VW) replacement Engine and a Warranty Company paid, not Skoda then that has a 2 Year Parts Warranty.

Great cars available at 'Much Cheapness', just do your homework, and unless modifying buy a 'Warranty',

or buy a good Modified One from a BRISKODA member or someone that is honest.

Best go road test a few.
