Fuel Filter - choice of 3 ?

Featured Replies

Morning all,

Looking at changing my fuel filter this weekend, but a quick call to the main dealer and also Euro Car Parts both tell me that I have a choice of 3 different filters / fitments .. and the only way to tell is to remove the old one first ?  Really ?

Seems a long winded way to go about it, so I'm hoping that someone on here will be able to point me in the right direction.

It's a Mk2 Octavia, Pre-Facelift, 1.9tdi Elegance.

A quick look under the bonnet, and I've identified the fuel filter housing, with 5 screws (?), 4 pipes but no bleed valve/screw on the top of the housing.

Cheers (and thanks)

Same type as mine, it needs the fuel filter with the "UFI" mounting - something like the Bosch 1 457 070 008  or equivalent will do it.

Pull out the headlight next to the filter, and you will easily be able to read the markings on the filter body.

This, as euro's and the dealer can then cross reference this with the filters part number.

Cheers folks ...

All sorted. It was the UFI type filter I needed.  Got the old one out (which was easy) and used the markings from the old filter (3CO 127434) to identify what was needed. Ended up with a Mann PU 825 x filter as the other QH was out of stock

Appreciate the help as always ..

Oh, and for what it's worth - changing it was a doddle.  Old one out / new one in. Started car up, ran for at least 10 minutes - didn't miss a beat. An easy 5 min job.

Cheers
