I can't get the wipers to work!

Featured Replies

Hello everyone!

I bought a brand new fabia sel about a week and a half ago. It's a great car but I have still not got the hang of it's wipers. I took it back to the garage thinking that there had been a mistake at the factory and the automatic feature hadn't been added for the wipers. The guy assured me that I am wrong and said it's standard on an sel.

A few few days later and I'm still baffled. There is no option for front wipers in The infotainment settings (only back) and my biggest annoyance is that when I set them to what I am told should be the automatic setting (the position one further away from me than off), they wipe every 10 or so seconds even when it isn't raining. I have also fiddled about with the sensitivity toggle but all that's done is make it wipe more often, rather than stop all together until it's actually raining.

Ive also checked the sensors, and they are clear so I'm thinking it's not that.

Am i being stupid? Is this how it's meant to operate?

Many thanks

Auto wipers on a MKIII Fabia SE-L are an option, not standard equipment

Auto lights are Standard

We have a SE-L,  No Auto Wipers.  the wipers are:- Off, Intermitant Wipe, normal Wipe, Fast wipe...........

I did for definite. I'm currently writing out an email and trying not to get too annoyed but I'm really upset because I feel like I've paid for things I'm not getting, it's not the only thing missing!

The best way to tell if Auto wipers  are fitted is :-- Turn Engine on,

Put lights to auto ( In Daylight ) and put your hand over the Square bit of plastic on top of the dash, in the middle. The headlights should have come on as you have covered the light sensor so, no auto wipers. If you have Auto wipers fitted the light sensor is in the same housing as the auto rain sensor at the top of the windscreen in the mirror housing.

Does that make sense ?

I believe the auto wipers can be retrofitted if the car has climate control, as you can change the sensor module behind the rear view mirror.
