Fabia didn't start (and started after all)

Featured Replies

Hi y'all,

This morning I tried to start my 1.4-16/55 kW Fabia (2004), but all I managed to to get were the engine fault lights (EPC and the one with the engine "image) on, and nothing didn't make a sound. After about 15 retries (removing the key and reinserting and turnin') the engine fired up without any problem. I tried to shut down and restart the engine after that at least 15 times also, but couldn't reproduce the problem. No fault lights are now lit and the car runs smoothly, but who knows what'll happen tomorrow morning? Anyone got a clue what might be going on?

Albeit I have to admit, it was -21 degrees the entire night and I tried to start the car cold. But still..

Possibly the immobiliser faulty if nothing happened at all, then it started? I don't know if that could be caused by cold temperatures, though.

Probably not, the Immo-light didn't go on.. or does it need to necessarily to go on in an immofault?

Worth getting a dealer to read off any error codes to see what the car logged. It's not something I've seen on here before...... :D

Chris

ive had simular twice, maybe not quite the same, i was getting a little bit of sound from the engine, we rocked my car back and forward to turn the starter motor once done all was good, first time day after getting the car :'( so it might be a dodgy contact on the starter motor

Local Skoda garage here in Finland diagnozed the fault to be (don't know about the exact English term) a loose ignition lock bottom, which was replaced under warranty. Now the starting problems were gone. No error codes were recorded during this incident, odd.. WELL, fingers crossed now that there'd not be anything else anymore..

Excellent news.

Wouldnt have been an immobilizer fault as the car will start and then cut out if there is an issue with key signals.
