Rear camera power Roomster

Featured Replies

I know a lot has been said but just seen Tesco selling rear view mirror with front and rear camera, can anyone shed anylight about where i get power for rear camera???

i.e. ive heard that using rear lights is useless (pulses) any help appreciated ( i dont really fancy taking all the headlining down just to put a camera in either).

Is there an aux socket in the boot seem to recall our 15 plate having one but can't be sure

The easiest place to gain an ignition fed supply is the rear wiper motor.

Sorry how rude of me I went to a re-union, thanks for the responses,

firstly yes it does have a rear socket for power, and yes it does have a rear wiper motor is that good news? lol

malcster i think using the rear aux socket would still involve me taking the rear covers off and come in via the roof??

where-as Gizmo68 i would have to put the rear wiper motor on each time i wanted to view the camera ??

sorry bit thick lol

And using both methods the camera would be powered up all the time?

No the rear wiper motor has power going to it whenever the ignition is on (whether the wiper is on or off)

To do the job neatly means the rear tailgate trim needs to be removed, so you may as well use the power already there.

Otherwise the power cable really (to do it neatly) needs routing through one of the rubber grommet pipes at each end of the tailgate (near the hinges) this is easier said than done!
