Columbus rebooting

Featured Replies

Hi all

First post, one month into ownership of a 2014 model year superb estate 4x4 170bhp DSG and very happy with the car. However my Columbus unit has started intermittently but more frequently as time passes started to reboot from start up screen to blank screen. Is this a fixable issue or cause for replacement? I have warranty with the car but would appreciate some advice on the options before contacting the dealer.

Best regards

I'd be looking at the warranty first. If they cover it then you'll be better off going down that route as it'll be cheaper. After that, if they refuse the warranty then you could send it to me and I'll take a look and see what's going on.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. Ive done a factory reset to see if that will have any effect before contacting the dealer with regard to warranty. I shall update after a few days with the result.

Well after factory reset all has been good so far. Is this possibly temporary or has this procedure been known to resolve this issue?

Best regards

Unsure. It might be something which will return, usually faults aren't cured by a reset unless you're lucky.

Hi

As normal thoese with experience always have the best information, and you are correct, the problem has returned. I have initiated the warranty path and shall post on how i progress.

Best regards

I have heard people getting them replaced under Skoda factory warranty, but aftermarket warranty usually excludes ICe. You might be lucky, or not.

Keep us informed.

So the warranty worked. Went to my local Skoda dealer who did a firmware install. Ive two weeks plus done since then and no issues, with lots of time in the car, and no glitches whatsoever so fingers crossed its all good.

Have to commend Mercedes in in Dublin where i purchased the car. They have been gentlemen to deal with. Skoda Ennis were also easy to deal with and very pleasant.

Hoping for the best.
