New car purchase

Featured Replies

Thinking about getting a new Octavia SE L Anyone got any experience with Carwow

and what will be the discount?

Its a good way to shop around & gives you some bargaining power with some local dealers.

I'm on my second purchase now so, pm me if you want detailed advice

agree with the above saved a fair whack by using them... my local dealer initially offered very little discount but when faced with the carwow quote matched it after some pushing.

I haven't dealt through CarWow but it appears that they just introduce you to a dealer so once you've decided to go ahead its just like buying a car from a dealer, except it may not be convenient to visit as they may not be in your immediate area.  You do know what dealer you are dealing with before agreeing to buy however, which is not the case on Drive the Deal.

On CarWow not all participating dealers seem to offer a nationwide offer (although some do). From my experience from moving house recently you will get a different set of dealers offering according to your postcode.

I've seen 15% offered fairly consistently over the last few months by a couple of dealers on CarWow on Octavias but there's no guarantee that would be a dealer near you.

Why don't you just sign up and get a quote? They don't give the dealers your contact details so you won't get pestered.

On a general point Skoda discounts are quite small compared to other brands. Larger discounts seem to be available on SEAT, VW and Audi for example.

I've found Carwow to be useful as there's no obligation to buy anything. I found that you will get emailed ~5 offers quite quickly, and they never seem to be local!!

I got £4K of a new Leon 1.4 FR DSG with specified options (including trade in), some stock versions had a lot more off them.

My local dealers would not budge on the list price.

I've used CarWow for my wife's Fiesta purchase (£4.5k off of list price)......the only downer was the dealer was 130 miles away.

In the past I've used JamJar (alas no more), AutoeBid and DriveTheDeal........my Focus ST was silly money compared to showroom price but, again, the only drawback was having to pick it up from a dealer 250 miles away.

One dealer I used via AutoeBid delivered the thing for free on a low-loader - that was nice

I really don't know why anyone these days wanders into a showroom and pays sticker price for a new car.
