Anyone fitted Footwell Lighting?

Featured Replies

Can footwell lighting be done on the fabia mk2 vRS?

Can it be done properly by putting a pin in the BCM so you can have them on all the time?

I have had a look and cant find any existing holes or marks to fit the lamps, was wondering if someone has done it on these?

Thanks

I'm sure I've seen someone is Czech with some fitted on Instagram mate...I'll try find it.

Im wanting to do the rear interior light mod, and it's like a frigging van at night in the back!

Slightly off topic but my other halfs new golf GTD has lit door sill kick plates! I didn't even know that was a thing :D

Like my mates Mk7 Fiesta ST that... surprised me when I first saw them.

Ive seen Astra rear lights been used in Fabia to be fair they use the mounting plate out the Astra roof liner too.

FWIW I fitted footwell lights to my old Rover 75.  I took the power from the interior lights, as I wanted them to come on/fade together.

As the OE lighting was pre-LED, I bought 4 generic festoon bulb interior lamps for around £2 apiece, mounted them onto short bits of alloy strip, and sort of 'followed my nose' as to where and how to fit them in the footwell.  The rear ones were attached under the front seats, plenty of places to cable tie them securely.

All the cabling was hidden behind trim in the usual way, I seem to recall that being particular in hiding wires always uses more cable than you think!!

Hope this helps

I did a rear head lining light, took the power from the front lamp, soldered to it so as to avoid cutting the loom.

i bought a Vauxhall light I think it was on eBay, cut out with the old headlining still attached, to be sure of getting the steel surround.

have you got any links for these?

eBay item 201940060982 looks the same but with white buttons. The key is to get the steel clip to which it mounts that goes into the headlining. Also be prepared to do some soldering at both ends because every car part has crazy custom plugs on it.

check the depth available with a pin at the desired location before cutting! Also make a template with some card before cutting the headlining.
