I have had my 2000 w reg fabia 1.4 8v for 2 years now. When i first bought it i was thrilled to bits, but when i was told to get the timing chain renewed on it things were never the same . After the timing chain was renewed it started with cutting out in the mornings when i reversed of my driveway , then it was when i had turned the wheel and put it into first gear it would move only slightly and either cut out or kangaroo a few times then cut out. From the day i bought it i have spent

:) Hi Nicky, welcome, although I'm still a relative newbie myself!

It sounds rather like whoever replaced the timing chain on your car didn't time it up properly, if that's the case then whatever is done to the fuel or ignition system you'll still have problems. I would take the car back and get the chain timing rechecked. The garage may be reluctant to do this as it means basically dismantling the engine again and starting from scratch.

Must admit if it started acting up straight after having the timing /chain/belt done that would be my first idea ...or something not replaced correctly when it was done

hi forgot to mension that the company i bought the car from(not main dealers) has gone bankrupt ! when the car is on but stationary it tremors every now and again also,One of the best diagnostic garages round here said it doesnt sound like the chain isnt set properly but as you say they might not want to take the engine out either!I dont know whether to cut my losses and trade it in , have negative equity on it though aswell as spending £1300+ on it ......
