4 engines, a turbo, gearbox....

Featured Replies

Wow.... £40k :o

Seems to be getting a lot of negative comments on the ol' Facebook, which I totally agree with.

who goes through 5 sets of alloys, they don't just fall too bits

Its the alloys that confuse me....

I have had 6 replacement Dark Chrome Gigaro because of 'White Worm' Corrosion but not on one car.

Known issue right back from late 2010.

There are members that got 4 replaced on their vRS, then ones that got the whole run around that Skoda UK try,

refurbished offers, told it would cost etc.

Skoda UK will have all the Warranty Claim figures available at the their finger tips if they wanted to reply to the SUN.

The issues are not unknown to the newest Brand Director of Skoda UK, he has been involved long enough with Skoda, then VW and then back to Skoda. Duncan Movassaghi that replaced Alastair Stewart last year.

So Wheels, Engine Rebuilds, Oil Consumption Tests, Updates on Breather Mods / Software, Replaced Oil Spray Jets,

Mechatronic Control Unit or Clutch Pack Failures, DSG 's boxes replaced and all other warranty issues, rear wiper motors etc

Wow, never knew that with the wheels!

Sounds like the car needed a new owner... Local scrapyard!

Does anyone here know this car or the owner.

On facebook it shows as Craig Cheshire, Crumlin, Caerphilly & with the picture of the car parked at the waterfall.

Yeah he is on facebook, and according to the threads on Facebook about it/him, he is a bit of a wide boy, so I wouldn't take anything as gospel about any of it....and its in the Sun, so that's a given!

Perhaps he's fishing?

yes ive know craig for years hes from blackwood area, them pics are from Brecon by the waterfalls,

not surprised alloys wearing out submerged on a waterfall especially with whiteworm issue. Surely you would just get painted ones by the 4th 5th set. Probably bad luck on all other issues and shoddy re working of engine

Those wheels that are on it now look smart, I wouldn't mind them on my Fabia

Personally I think the 4 sets is a typo and its actually only 1 set of 4?

& the £40,000.   Is that 3 gloveboxes, i cant see the page properly.

The Engine prices are fiction compared to others engines replaced, then there is an amount for labour / admin.

Oddest article yet.

Love the comments in article from those that have no idea what a Mk2 Fabia vRS looked like as standard.

One of the comments in the article has a screenshot of the guy with a set of alloys for sale... Suspicious! Selling warranty replacements?!

LOL. I sold ones as well.   Right after the dealership fitted the tyres to them and still managed to mark the lacquer on them.

You have to put the car in with the wheels on and they change over your tyres to the new rims,

you do not just hand in wheels, or get to walk away with new rims.

I did this because i owned them, all mine to sell while still looking good,

and yes they were new and replaced ones,  i owned these that good because i took time to argue the ones that were on the car were faulty.

I knew from faulty ones before that were replaced that they would likely just go the same way.

I still have some sets of Dark Chrome Gigaro i bought from members here & from for sales, all are painted because even kept off the car in a dry place they can get White Worm.

People sell them because they want nice wheels on that can be washed and polished and not look like crap and because Skoda Dealerships & Customer Services often blamed the owner for causing damage by driving a car on the road or washing the wheels.

Hard to believe that any owner or dealership would be replacing sets of 4 wheels time after time to £4,000 worth.

(They are rubbish quite quickly though, but someone would need a 5 year warranty running from new not a 3 year one to get 4 sets of wheels, or even 2 sets in 3 years.)

Pics taken from google images.

Bottom Picture is mine, paint them and problem solved, or hidden,...,
