Fabia One Touch Electric Window Problem

Featured Replies

Hi guys

have an issue with the drivers window on my mk2 fabia 1.4tsi

the driver side window will only go down with one touch function (one hard press on the button), so if i only want to open it slightly I have to stop the window where i want it to stay, then when closing its the opposite, the one touch close doesn't work, have to pull on the button until its closed.

The other 4 elec windows all work fine, one touch and normal.

I have tried pulling up on the switch 3 times and down 3 times as I know this usually re-initialises the windows on some cars but didnt work on the fabia

have also tried the key in door, held it unlock position all windows down and lock position all windows incl drivers go up fine but still the same issue

any ideas?

thanks

Usually, you lower the window fully, holding it on the auto function all the way down and for a few seconds AFTER it is fully lowered, then raise it fully, agin holding it in the auto position, and holding a few seconds AFTER it is fully raised. This re-sets the auto function and MAY need doing a few times. Get water in the doors or disconnect the battery, it might need doing again. Sometimes the switches "Glitch" and won't always operate correctly. If the switch is at fault, they cost around @£40 genuine parts from a dealer, cheaper on eBay for copies.

Unfortunately, you will need the whole block of four just to replace one.

Might just need the contacts cleaning, could be wiring or fault at the motor end though, not the switch. Process of elimination but switches do fail occasionally.

Thanks for the very detailed reply

tried the reset method u mentioned, as well as removing the switch, both to no avail, will try and find someone breaking a fabia with the full switch near me so i can plug in and see if it is the switch before buying one...would i be right in saying that an octavia switch is also the same?

I think they may fit across many of the range but be sure to get the correct colour illumination.  Fabia's usually have green and many VW applications have red although I am unsure of Skoda colours in general. You might find some are green, some are red.

Problem solved with a new driver side master window switch...ordered a new replacement from ebay which was advertised for skoda, but once fitted realised the switch lights are red instead of green...contacted the seller who said they dont do them in green and offered a partial refund...all in all windows all work properly now but with red light on the switch...still not too bad for £7.99 :)

I had a slight fault. Took off switch and cleaned it a little. Much more reliable now. You might ba able to swap the green less over from your old one if you are feeling brave! Wont hurt the old one if its faulty so you'll be risking the eight quid!
