Wierd CD Changer

Featured Replies

I had problems with the CDchanger the other day,

Turned the head unit on, pressed down to start at the start of the track the thing sasy surface and stutters on the next disk. Took the discs out of the changer, checked them all and put them back in and the changer said 'chk magazine' all day.

Got on motorway on way home that eve and about half way down the thing sprung back into life.

Any ideas.

Thanks

It'll be dust/dirt inside.

Gently poke a vacuum cleaner hose in there or just blow very hard into the changer to move the dust around.

Suppprised that it is that as i had given it a good clean out and blow when i took the magazine out to 'chk' it ;)

Any ideas where that sort of amount of dust would be getting in since it's a factory fit item in the boot and always has the top cover on. (It's only 2.5 years old).

Mine is the factory fit item and always has the cover on too - but doing the above cured the problem.

If the changer is borken they're VERY expensive to replace with a new item. If you still ahve a warranty take it back to the dealer and see if you can get a new one out of them ;)

mine did something similar (octy) ,checked underneath unit cable/connector was wet ,turned out to be water leak through rear nearside light ,common problem

says the dealer whilst trying to sell me whole light unit instead of fitting a new seal , dried the unit out and it works fine

It had been parked out of cover when it rained before it all went wierd. Will have a damp check in that area :)

Looks like i'll call winchester and take a drive up that way to get them to have a look at it, the wobble/vibration through the wheel and a few squeaks and rattles then :)
