Featured Replies

2001 octy 34000 i bought it three months ago 110 derv garage put new air flow meter in now told it needs full turbo in

did you not get a warranty when you bought it?

A new turbo needed after 34000 miles?

That's not good at all.

Was it bought from a dealer or privately?

Turbo dying at 3000 revs?

Is it like total power dying at 3000 revs?

If so, i had the same on a 110 tdi audi, the fault was with a broken catalytic convertor (sp?), pieces of cat block up the exhaust pipe inside.

I bought a new one (at 40000 miles too) for about £600, but i believe the cat is not needed on the diesel anyway. It will pass emmisions without it.

this is the night before new turbo goes in bought car from another dealership, under warranty but had to argue a lot shouldnt be like that still skoda doing job so should be ok i hope .car just seemed to die off at 3000 revs but didnt cut out then progressed to run like sdi still if they put all the nuts and bolts back tomorrow ill be very happy . i think ill keep my fingers crossed.

I just changed a turbo on a TDi with 15,000 miles on the clock. Had been grannied around all its life and clogged itself up with soot which jammed the VNT mech up, hence no boost.

You should be alright , and it's now one very expensive bill you won't have to worry about in the future.

Think how much worse of you'd have been if it broke in a few months when out of warranty
