Headlight seal

Featured Replies

Just come out to the car and I've noticed the rubber seal around the top of the headlight appears to be coming away. Looks as if it's just stuck on with some thin adhesive.

I'm hoping it's just a weather seal to prevent water getting in to the engine bay as I've pushed it back in for now so it'll still do it's job.

As it's hammering it down at the minute I won't be able to do anything with it today.

Is this fairly common and an easy fix as a quick look under the bonnet doesn't really give me any access to it?

I haven't seen any rubber seals on a MkII headlight.

Can you elaborate on where exactly and what they look like?

I suspect it's the narrow strip of rubber across the top of the FL headlight where it's adjacent to the front edge of the bonnet. The crows at our office have had a go at my near side one and there's a few peck marks in it. I don't think it's a seal though.

Something the pre FL doesn't have then.

That's the one. Crows were my first thought too, over on the Fiesta ST forum there was a spate of this happening to the rubber window seals.

I'll just glue it back down when the weather improves.

Had to replace 3 of my door seals last year thanks to the crows. This spring I ended up useing a car cover.
