2007 1.9 VRS Gearbox

Featured Replies

Hi,

I need to replace the gearbox on my 2007 VRS.... the rating plate in the boot is missing, so I spoke to Skoda and they told me the box is a JNC. I can find a second hand HDS gearbox....... would this be compatible?

Many thanks

As long as it's a 02M 6 speed gearbox it should fit fine. The gear ratios you have stated above are the same too.

Early ones with the code FSM and FJW with have a longer 4/5/6 gear. But still fit as it's still a 02M gearbox

Thanks for the help....... I finally found a reconditioned gearbox in Holland for €550. It is now with my mechanic for fitting. I will have the clutch changed at the same time as the car has done 180k kms. If I have to change the dual mass flywheel, is it better to convert to a single mass? I think the car has been reprogrammed by the previous owner, but I don't know to what extent.... to me it just feels more powerful than 130bhp!

Again my thanks for your response to my previous post.

cheers

Martin

Just throw a Sachs dmf in. Smf are only worth it of you are going for 260+ bhp imo.

Here I am again with another question! I received the new gearbox, fitted it to the car with new clutch.... but the gear change linkages were completely different! Eventually, the gear change turret was changed from the original box and all worked okay. it took my mechanic a further four hours work to do the modifications and I want to recover the cost of this work from the gearbox  supplier. A reference number stamped on the top of the box near the selector mechanism on the new box reads JNC 28045 P02 14 20331162, on the original box is JNC 05012 P02 14 14020803. I suspect the new box is from another VAG vehicle and have tried to identify which vehicle by first speaking to Skoda and then other box suppliers. No one can reference these numbers!! They say they are not the gearbox part numbers. The car is now back on the road so I can't search for any other reference numbers without getting back under the car! Can anyone shed any light on these reference numbers and identify which vehicle the new box came from?
