Compatible particle filter

Featured Replies

Hello

I have the options to get my filter cleaned or buy a new one. Here in Denmark the price of this filter is like £1500 and cleaning is around £250. My engine is a CFGB and i havent got 4x4 on the car. So i found i needed this filter OM code: 1K0 254 706 PX

So my question is can i use another filter? Like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ORIGINAL-Dieselpartikelfilter-DPF-Audi-VW-Seat-Skoda-2-0-TDI-125-KW-170-PS-/191969497357?epid=1368200184&hash=item2cb246110d:g:ZHQAAOSwiLdV8cQI&vxp=mtr#vi-ilComp      (sorry about the looooong link) as you can see the price almost equals the cleaning cost and i would really prefer a new filter.

I hope anyone can help.

Thanks in advance!

Cleaning DPF's really is a short term fix. The water pressure* not only removes the ash but also damages the coating inside the DPF which often reduces it's effectivenesss / efficiency.

* assuming the cleaning process is using water. There are other methods but these are usually much more expensive than the prices you quoted above.

If the DPF is dead then the only real viable options to ensure long term reliability is:

1) Profressionaly remove the DPF and map out the sensors (check local legislation).

2) Replace the DPF.

There are an increasing amount of pattern / replica DPF's out there now but be wary of quality.

As you've discovered OEM is expensive but the safest option. Your eBay link looks like a genuine part but unfortuantly I can't help you to determine if it is compatible with your car.

Yes its a jungle out there in the DPF world. I found a diesel filter pro who wanted to refit my DPF with a new one since mine had burned a hole in it (i saw my old filter and there was a hole in it). So i got a brand new replica one for £500 and the workshop gave me 2 years of warranty on the filter and the work they did.

Thanks for the answer Silver1011

Best regards
