Engine pinking

Featured Replies

Hello my skoda Fabia 1.6 tdi has started pinking especially at low revs and seems quite flat , you can feel it through the throttle when driving just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem. There are no lights on dashboard I was wondering if my egr is blocked up any help appreciated thanks .

are you referring to a judder at low revs? Two things I can think of:

1. Injector is on its way out. It happened to me 1 month ago. At low revs it was juddering and not much power with no warning lights. Replaced 1 faulty injector and it went back to normal. £800 that was.

2. Did you had the emissions update? If you did take it back to the dealer asap. Injectors and egrs are covered by their warranty.

Hope that helps.

Yes it was the main dealer, however I had other quotes from independent garages and they weren't far off so I thought to myself, if they mess up the fix the dealer will rectify it. The dealer also did a compression test to all cylinders and they were all identical. If it was much more cheaper from an indy then yes i would have considered it, but because it wasn't i might as well go the the dealer where they are specialized on their own products.
