hey

mother in law brought a  2nd  2015 skoda yetti and did not come with ad navigation card can yo use any card or have to be skodas?

if so where can i buy one from not through skoda?

if not where can i find the download files?

and what type of sd card is it?

Needs a genuine Skoda (or VW) SD card, you can't use a non Skoda one I'm afraid. The maps files for Australia I wouldn't know for sure but try putting the VIN in here and see if they can be downloaded.

Maps SD card for the European unit is part number 5l0 051 236E

Newer European versions are available, I have a 5L0 051 236 G and the 5L0 051 236 H is listed online.

Makes little difference really as if you can download the maps online then an older card will do, and will probably be cheaper. If there's no online download for Australia maps, then it would be wise to buy the most up to date.

Or Skoda even sell a blank sd card to load your own maps onto, part number 5L0 051 236C on the last one I bought.

Are the older and newer cards the same capacity?

I ask because some owners have to reformat the cards to FAT32 with 4K cluster size (to minimise the space wasted by the many small files in the map data) to fit the latest 2017/2018 European maps, but other owners don't have this problem and can just copy the new maps directly to their card.

5L0 051 236E  and 5L0 051 236C both read as 16Gb. Note it's the Amundsen II units which have been reporting errors copying the data due to file size, the Amundsen Media units I've loaded maps onto the cards with no issues at all.

Add Amundsen MIBI units to that list, I have a MIBI in my April 2015 build Octavia III - BTW how does it matter whether the card is eventually plugged into a MIBI or MIBII unit, if the maps won't fit onto the card when it's plugged into a PC then surely the MIB version isn't relevant?

When I tried to copy the 2017 (i.e. the ones before the current 2017/2018 ones) to my 5L0 051 236 C card they wouldn't fit, so I tried the reformat to 4K cluster size and all was OK. Didn't have any problem with my other card, a 5L0 051 236 G, when putting the 2017/2018 maps onto that though.

MIB1 and MIB2 are both Amundsen II units (as opposed to the old Amundsen and Amundsen+).  Thinking about it, I had an Amundsen MIB2 which I used the same maps card with a while ago, so they all take the same data. I've not managed to recreate or generate any card size errors when loading maps onto any cards for any units, but then again I don't use Skoda's apparently useless unpacking tool.

Thanks for clarifying what's meant by an Amundsen II.

Neither do I, I decompress the downloaded file onto my NAS drive and copy onto the SD card using Windows Explorer.

look on ebay ..
