Recent Android Auto connection problems

Featured Replies

Has anyone had intermittent problems with Android Auto connections following some of the recent updates? I don't know which exactly, but up to about a month ago I had no trouble with it. Now, every so often it fails to connect with the in-car screen or the screen is left black. I think it must be something with the Android software, because rebooting the phone clears it.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S6 with Android 7.0, Android Auto 2.5.728604-release.

I would clear the cache for the android auto app

Or even uninstall and reinstall

Occasionally my wife's nexus 6p has a freak out with android auto

My pixel XL so far seems ok

Both are running 7.1.2

I'm fed up with Android Auto crashing intermittently recently to the point I'm really missing my old Tomtom.

I'm using Nexus 6p with Bolero and never had any problems with connecting. Use it daily for navigation (Google Maps) and playing music on Spotify. AA hasn't crashed once.

Android Auto hasn't even been released yet here in Finland so the app has been installed from Apkmirror. Because of that AA doesn't support my native language Finnish but luckily that's not a big issue as most of us Finns have studied English as a secondary language for 9 years of our lives :)

I use a Motorola E 2nd generation. It used to work fine but has recently got worse when linked to Bolero.

If it's not linked it's fine as a satnav when using Google maps.

If anyone is having this issue, it's nearly always down to the Android Auto cache needing clearing, as Malcster says. Not just that but make sure you clear the phones storage cache too as that can lead to incomplete updates to AA. Go to the phones settings and 'storage' to do that and 'apps' to clear the AA specific cache. Don't uninstall the updates though unless the whole thing has become unstable and you want to start it again from near scratch.
