Old Steering wheel compatible with facelift SKODA??

Featured Replies

Hi,

im totally new to this forum and need some help. I have a SKODA FABIA 63 plate facelift. I recently bumped my car into a wall and steering wheel airbag came off so I took it to a local garage and they said the facelift model comes with the new steering wheel which is expensive to replace but old steering wheel should work. So I asked them to replace it but when I went to pick it up there were traction control and tyre pressure warning lights on but they said wheel alignment should fix that. So I took it to kwikfit and got the alignment done but the lights were still on. I asked kwikfit to check it and they said nothing wrong with the wheels and the code says " No communication with steering angle sender" and they asked me to take it back to the garage who replaced it. Kwikfit removed the codes but it came back an hour later along with abs light. Now the mechanic says he threw my cars steering wheel(clearly lying) and he can't do anything. I'm stuck with the lights on. The car drives perfectly without any issues but the lights won't go. What should I do. Is the old steering wheel not compatible or is it something else. Please help as I can't find a new stering wheel and airbag and the ones on eBay are quite expensive. I will still buy it if it will fix my car as I don't wanna end up with two steering wheels and the same issue.

Welcome. What is your car a Face Lift Mk2 Fabia vRS?

What old steering wheel was fitted, a Mk2 vRS 2010-2012 with Paddles?

Someone that knows about such things will be along because obviously the local garage did not and neither do i.

?

Just because i am nosy how much did these chancers charge you to not do the job properly before panning you off to Kwik fit dancers?

& who were they so that others can give them a swerve?

Hi,

my car is a basic FABIA Greenline II late 2013. It's not vrs.  the local garage installed the below green badge stering wheel while my car had the newer one shown after this. The garage charged me £180 to replace the steering wheel while kwikfit charged me £50 for alignment and £25 each wheel. And they said we removed codes for free. But they said it's the old steering wheel which isn't compatible. I hope that someone here will help me. Thanks skoda-fabia-steering-wheel-cover-diy.jpg
