console bushes

Anyone know if the 1Z Octavia and the Mk5 Golf/Jetta/Touran etc. share the same console bush housing? In particular, the hole bolt spacing?

They are considerably more plentiful, but I don't fancy slotting holes to make them fit.

Cheers.

Yep, same.  IIRC, Passat is different.  I bolted the Audi S# brackets straight onto my Octy.

If you can find someone with a press, just get the Audi S3 bushes and fit them to your existing housings.  Much cheaper.

Febi / Bilstein part #  33973  (double check that before you buy.  About GBP10 each.

Thanks, Brad

I've ordered some B6 Passat arms, and a pair of non-voided bushes (without housings).

Is it gonna be more economical to get a spare pair of bush housings and press the solid bushes in myself, attach the Passat arms and get an Indie to fit, or get the garage to press the new bushes in the existing housings and fit the Passat arms (If that any makes sense)?

Ta.

I really don't know but if you are capable of pressing the bushes into the housings then you are probably capable of fitting the arms yourself.

There are 3 bolts on the console housing.

2 bolts on the ball joint

1 bolt on the front pivot.

the only "gotcha" is that if you have DSG the front bolt hits the gearbox, so you have to lift the engine slightly.  I have a manual, so it wasn't an issue.

Hmm, not given too much thought of doing it myself. Kind of had enough of crawling under cars, but I might give it a second thought, if it's not too time consuming. Btw I have a manual. Cheers!
