Has anybody fitted a Witter flanged detachable towbar to a vrs estate 2014. I've been told it won't fit because they say it's a black edition and they are excluded. I have the a the black style package and as far as I'm aware the rear bumper is standard vrs. 

 

Also is there a link to the coding guide.

They probably mean it's not been type approved for a tow bar. They had a similar **** up with on of the version of the Kodiaq which means you will have all the same problems with a potential insurance problems

 

  

Of course there is nothing stopping you buying and fitting it yourself and risking the insurance but you'll have to remove the tow bar when you sell it or inform the new owner that it's not got type approval.

I have seen other branded towbars on vrs estates and pj jones have told me it will fit the vrs. It's the black edition bit that's the issue, which I've never heard off.

my build sheet mentions black style package but nothing about black edition. 

 

I can't imagine you'll have a problem fitting it. 

I had a Witter detachable fitted to my 14 plate vRS TDI Estate with no issues

I have now fitted the above tow bar and it fits perfectly.

 

I hooked the trailer up today, everything works as it it should but I have a trailer rh side lamp warning.

 

i also don't have a trailer displayed anywhere on the dash, just a green 1 with arrows above it when the indicator is active. 

 

What exactly should happen in the display when the trailer is attached?

 

it was coded using the adaptions thread on here.

 

It didn't have tow bar prep so I fitted the genuine skoda wiring.

You can't get a Black Edition Vrs. The Black Edition Octavia's were only available in black or white, 1.6 Tdi and a 5 speed box. They also had moulded plastic trim at the bottom of the doors.  Dealers talking Bull.
