Octavia mk 2, no rear lights

Featured Replies

First time post so bear with me!

I've got a 2005 Octavia with an issue that I can't seem to find an answer for.

Driving it today and the rear lights failed, just the tail lights, the brake lights and indicators still work.

To give full background I was towing my car trailer at the time and I noticed that the side marker lights had gone out.  When I stopped I realised that it had all failed.

There are no warning lights on the dash to say I have bulbs out, just no lights.

Unplugging the trailer made no difference.

I've not had the car scanned yet.

Any thoughts??

This might sound silly but have you tried turning it off and on again?

Every time I towed a trailed, they had some burned out bulb and it caused the indicator to go nuts when activated. The problem would persist even if I detached the trailed and would only come back to normal after I took the keys out and put them back in.
