Hi. I have a 2012 Octavia VRS and have it a few years. I love it and haven't had any problems until recently. There is a knocking noise coming from left hand side when going over speed ramps and sometimes when I break or turn in right. 

Have had two mechanics look at it but couldn't find anything. Has anyonecome across this before? It's wrecking my head!!!

Spelling

Check and possibly replace top mounts, springs, drop links. If you do replace any such parts, you may want to replace both sides.

 

Could be damper itself but the other items listed are most common.

No worries. Drop links you can have a pretty good poke at and visual inspection under the car. Commonly a problem.

 

Springs you can inspect for damage, broken or splitting coil but it is a little more difficult esp around the backside of strut unit unless it is a fracture that has broken a coil off..

I suppose if, those two check out ok, you'll have to remove the strut and may as well replace the top mount / bearings as a minimum while you are there. No point leaving the old ones in place. Could also have thorough inspection of springs and damper unit then too with the strut removed  but some costs involved..
