Hand brake cables

Featured Replies

Has anyone fitted these before any tips or tricks would help thanks

Pretty easy to fit unless you have a Jumbo Box. Then it becomes a PITA to fiddle with them inside. Don't want to put you off - just allow yourself some time and patience.

You have to remove rear air vent, air duct, cupholder and heated seats buttons to gain some access to the cable. This is just so you can stick your hand down there and remove the cables. You need a small wrench to deal with the adjusting nut.

Then it's even more of a pain to properly fit the air duct back in and the rest... Particularly I had trouble getting that damn cupholder drawer to fit back and still operate normally... but that was due to the heated seats buttons loom which is in the way if you don't clip it back in properly.

Thanks do a need to replace the guide tubes as well as the cables

You mean the cable housing? don't think they come separately

I have an 06 L&K and it doesn't have all the gubbins previously mentioned.  All I had to do was pop the rear ashtray, possibly the vents and I was in like sin, torx bits were required to get something out of the way and a small spanner to adjust the cable tension.

In my case I removed the cables and worked WD-40 into them removing rust n dirt and they freed up nicely with a bit of perseverance, good as new.
