Noise after off engine?!

Featured Replies

Hello! I recently purchased a Skoda Superb 2014 1.6 TDI! Soon I heard a strange noise when I stopped the engine! I can not tell if this noise was from the moment of purchase or it's been released a few days ago! Are these sounds normal or something is wrong?
Sounds are exactly the same as those in the video posted!

There is no sound on that video?

I think he means that ticking sound after the engine has stopped.

Sounds a bit like a solenoid actuating. No idea if it is normal in this engine.

I could not hear anything either.

This sound appears after the engine is off! Be careful in second 4 - 7! There are four ticks one after the other, plus one more bitter one!
Try to give the sound a little loud when watching the video!
Thanks in advance for your help!

I can't hear anything either but there are various flaps and valves that go through their adaptation/test sequence when the car is turned off. This may be what you are hearing

@TheRobinK, @Danny 57 & @SuperbTWM are you saying there is no sound in the video? Or are you saying there is nothing out of the ordinary in the video?

I think Llok may need clarification on that.

Sorry, for clarification there doesn't appear to be any sound in the video at all, not on windows media player anyway and I don't have much else installed on this machine.

I could not hear any sound whatsoever from the video.

Try the VLC media player. The video definitely has sound.

Just looking at this post now - what I meant was that I could get no audio at all.

The default Windows 10 player must not have an audio codec for it. I've just used the old Windows Media Player and I did finally get the sound.

Yes - TLV is correct, you can hear it with VLC - it installs with a load of sound/video codecs and one of them is needed for this.

If anyone doesn't want to install that player (it is a good one) then you can try installing the K Lite Codec pack.

I have listened to the audio and it sounds normal to me.

Hi Llok - I've just heard the sound on you video after using a different video player.

I have a 1.6d as well and it does not make the sounds on your video. As SuperbTWM said, I do sometimes hear some flaps and valves close but those are very quiet sounds.

For anyone who cant hear the sound on the video - it is a loud "Click-Klak ..Click Klak ..... Klak" that starts about a second after the engine is fully shut down and stopped.

Hello guys! Thanks for your opinion! I place video in another format (mp4) for those who can not open it! I'm waiting for further suggestions maybe someone has gone through such a thing! But considering TheRobinK - the same 1.6 TDI engine does not make these sounds, I suspect something is wrong, although the car is going very well and there is no error on the board!

Llok - I just had my wife turn the car off after I had opened the bonnet so I could listen carefully.

My 1.6d DOES make the same sounds - just not as loud as it appears to be on your video. I don't think there is anything wrong with your car - we both have 2014 models and I don't believe there is any fault.

It would be interesting to know what it is - but I'm sure now that it is normal.

TheRobinK  thank you so much for your information!

Today we've discovered something new!

When the engine stops with the start / stop sistem, these sounds are not heard.

They only appear when i stop the engine from the key.

I'm wodering why?
