Had me first bang in twenty years.Skip lorry reversed into front of my 61 reg 94400 miles Elegance 140 dsg full history.

They say around £2800 to £3200 for repair. Would not like to lose it as its a good car, but what do you think the insurers will do.

Rule of thumb for insurance total loss is about 60% of the value of the vehicle = a gonner

Have a look on ebay or auto trader, at similar age and spec octavia's to get an idea of value's, then see what the insurer's will pay out (don't be tempted to take the first offer), buy the vehicle back as salvage (normally around 10-15% of the value) and have the repairs done by your own prefered accidant repair centre, you normally end up with a few quid in your pocket as well. i've done it once before.
