Fuel pump failure

Featured Replies

Hi

Any help gladly appreciated. I own a 2.0 tdi 59 plate Octavia. I had a breakdown about 3 weeks ago. Called a breakdown service out and was told it was the fuel pump. He managed to get it going by banging the side of the fuel tank.  Had a new pump fitted at a garage 2 weeks ago. New filter fitted a week later and some fuel cleaner was added also. But yesterday the same problem occurred again. Managed to get it going again by knocking the bodywork by the fuel filler and lower down. Surely it can't be the fuel pump again ? Thanks.

was its the high pressue fuel pump that failed? - if so it can contaminat the fuel system with swarf and debris which clogs the injectors and fuel lines.
