Slight knocking noise on acceleration.dsg

Featured Replies

Hi guys. I've only had my car for about a week. 2017 1.2 dsg  and thought I'll try out sport mode and I noticed some very slight hard to hear knocking/ rattling sound,it sounded like rubber bouncing/knocking  quite fast. It wouldn't do it all the time just sometimes, it's there any cause for concern? It don't do it in drive mode just sport mode when accelerating quit briskly. Thanks in advance

I would be looking at the alignment of the exhaust system first.

High torque levels will cause it to flex and likely causing it to knock the body somewhere.

Ok what u mean by alignment? Just see if there is any movement? To be honest the exhaust did cross my mind.

It may have been bolted up in such a way that it remains close to a part of the body at rest but hits under heavy acceleration.

Or

similarly with a component bolted to the engine block hitting somewhere ......perhaps the firewall or similar.

The crankshaft goes in one direction and the engine block goes the other way under load causing everything bolted to it to flex .

Ok I'll take a look under the car tomorrow to see if I can see anything.so u don't think this is a issue then? Or is it a dealer job. They proberly say they can't hear it anyways

Similar to this....

If it’s due to torque, it will come and go on command via the accelerator.

Had a good drive this morning and can't seem to replicate, I did move around some stuff in the boot so hopefully it was just something silly. Fingers crossed
