Mk2 octavia 2.0 TDI solid or dual mass flywheel?

Hi. I have a mk2 Skoda octavia 2.0 TDI on an 05 plate.

Does anyone know if they originally came with a dual mass flywheel or a solid one?

My engine is a BKD. 

During my 7 years of ownership, I've never had to replace the clutch or flywheel.... 

Dual mass flywheel on the BKD 2.0 tdi. Best practice to change this at the same time as the clutch, saves a whole lot of trouble further up the line, also change the slave cylinder as well, the are made out of plastic and can/do crack and leak, wrecking the clutch.

As above its a dmf, get a kit which includes everything as it saves labour costs at later date.

Thanks. Car is on 150k at the moment. I think its still got the original clutch in it. I bought it when it was at 80k.

Go Sachs where possible as LuK is a weaker product.

Sachs kit will cost you £350 ish.

Sachs is factory fit IIRC.

LuK is available though and could be swapped out, it's marginally cheaper so was warning against it.

Yeah I think sachs would be better than the LUK one. I will go for sachs

I've done it in August on my BKD and I'm really happy with the change. The car drives much better than before. 

Car had the Sachs on by factory.

 

Do take into account the above recommendations too - change everything at the same time as it's a job you don't want to do again any time soon.

Yeah I'm gonna get everything changed including the slave cylinder

Is it causing issues to warrant the change?  Or are you pre-empting failure?

Sometimes, the clutch pedal sticks a bit. Mostly in cold weather though. 

Apart from that, it's fine.

I was just thinking of replacing it because of the amount of miles its done without a replacement and not wanting it to breakdown somewhere.

I think you'd get a bit of notice.  eg: a very high clutch pedal, slightly slow gear changes or slipping under load in the higher gears.

My remapped 1.8tsi is at 185,000km (110,000miles??) and the clutch pedal is high and the gear change can't be rushed.  It's still able to transmit the ~330nm of torque in all gears, so I figure there's a bit more life yet.

Yeah I think mine also still has some life let yet though..... my clutch isn't that high...
