I just dropped my 2015 yeti 2.0tdi 170 l&k off at skoda for them to check infotainment unit as it keeps glitching and i asked about them tightening up my handbrake as its a bit loose. They said its need a caliper strip down nd will be 80quid. Is this right as it seems crazy to me

I suspect they are saying a caliper is seized or pad seized on a pin and will strip and clean it.  I thought the handbrake mechanism was self-adjusting.  I’m pretty sure mine is on its original rear pads and have never had to be adjusted.

Quite, and since that's a mechanical/maintenance problem it shuld be dealt with under the warranty.

Looking back at my old records adjustment is never mentioned on the service records so I would also suspect the hand brake is self adjusting.
