Improving handling on MK 2 Octavia 1.8 TSI

Featured Replies

I thinking of trying to track my Octavia 1.8 TSI the summer 2018.

But before i even think of bringing the car near a track i need to improve the handling of the car..

What would be the best thing to change/replace to improve the handling of the car?

Coils?

If so, what brand/model would be the most "bang for the buck"?

Perhaps some bushings?

Any advice would be highly appreciated since i have no real knowledge about the Octavia MK 2 platform and handling :)

Also would it be able to get the chassi decently handling or is it a "dead-end" which would just cause me to spend money without getting any real performance from it..

Since i doesnt really weigh that much, in combination with the fact that the engine is quite pokey, it should be able to get it "trackable" if i just get better handling, less weight and then proper brake pads..

We fitted a -50mm H&R Cup Kit and a Whiteline RARB. Made a huge difference.

Maybe coilovers would lower and stiffen more for tracking but the Cup Kit is great for normal road use.

Thanks!

I'm actually considering ordering the h & r and start there. It should be a huge improvement over stock suspension, which has also done about 70000miles..

It won't be ideal for track, but way better than stock at a decent price.

Is there any large website where I can find suspension and performance parts for the Octavia?

Check out a similar thread I created a little while back. Some good advice given...
