What's the good news

Featured Replies

Days before my car's 3rd birthday I've received a letter from the supplying dealer sales manager,  announcing 'some good news about your car, not a circular but actually nominated by Skoda Uk . I just have to ring to find out. What could it be? Is it " Your car is in such high demand that we'll make you an offer you can't refuse :D ." Or is it " We're so pleased you rang, would you care to buy a car? B)   Anybody else got a similar one from DM Keith?

I got one too

An extended warranty at a special price perhaps?

Intrigued...

If I received such a letter, the first thing I'd check is it's genuine number for the dealership. The  second thing I'd check is it's not a premium rate number.

Garages have never given me good news as it always involves me parting with money.

It is from the garage, I just have to give them my bank details, PIN number and keys to my car.... Ok it is the garage. I will call tomorrow to use up my free minutes. I agree with you  that it's the Kevin Keegan-esque 110% likely sales pitch rather than any actual good news.

Come on @Redboy

You said you had called them! What’s the scoop?

The special offer doesn't have a set level of discount. Fatal blow as I can already get a good discount anyway. The offer is  that as a nominated customer you choose from a  number of specially selected vehicles, nominated by Skoda UK, make an 'offer' it gets sent off to Skoda and they reply. Given recent sales figure reductions and people's livelihoods at stake, I don't blame the dealership for sending out curiosity-inspiring invitations. The salesman was pleasant and I said I was happy with my current car and the only Skoda I would replace it with, the 245, is suspended/cancelled. I do like the new seats, diff and entertainment screen. I just can't get used to the beaky nose and small headlights. I am obviously just resistant to change, when I had my MkII, I didn't like the MkII FL lights either! ;)
