1.8 20vt Vapour Build

Featured Replies

I have been getting an itch to get a project car on the go, haven't really had much to "fiddle" with since I sold my Disco after getting the Octy :)

Anyway, I have two ideas swanning about in my head at the moment......

1) I have a mid 90's 106 3 door (currently with a dead diesel engine in it - sucked water in) that I have been toying with using, maybe dropping a 20vt engine and box in, that sort of thing. Even in 150hp form it would be a right hoot in something as light as a stripped out 106, especially with the outside left looking standard. Obviously brakes would need work, although I could probably use a combination of stuff off other 106/Saxo's, such as the big brakes and disc axle the Gti's etc use.

2) Drop a 20v lump into an MX5. I now the mazda lump is reliable and tuneable, but so is the 20v. So, use an AUQ (or BAM for giggles) mate it to the MX5 box, or even see if I can use an A4 Quattro as a donor and give it 4wd :) as well, hmmmm.

or

3) Keep dreaming up silly ideas

Main reason for my ideas is that I am toying with upgrading my Octy to a newer model, preferably a 4wd version vRS, and I would then have my Mk1 as a donor.
