Half of UK dealers to close

Featured Replies

This one says 'up to 50% of car dealerships to close PREDICTED'.    Shows just how fake news can come about with a headline....

Just by putting 2 or 3 brands on the one site that reduces Dealerships as happens with a Skoda & SEAT, Renault / Dacia dealership on the same site,

but already there are multi franchise dealerships on the same site.

Then huge Car Supermarkets not only with Used but also New Car Dealerships under 1 big roof and huge car lots.

More Click and collect or have delivered set ups is pretty obvious going into the future.

Maybe time to sell your shares / investment in your car dealerships.

(New) Car buying may well have peaked in the Western world, it certainly appears to have in the UK, with it appearing that 34M cars is quite enough and time to level off or start reducing that number.

Dealerships refusing to keep stock of each model when there is little prospect of selling them with the diminishing disposal income in the UK so lots giving up the franchise and concentrating on nearly new.

My local dealership wanted to keep the Dacia brand but not keep the Renault brand, which with the current strength of the Euro is starting to price cars made in  the Euro area of of the market.

Petrol and Wiesel prices have been climbing as crude oil price have just passed their 3/4 year highs although the pound has been doing well against the US dollar though not so well against other currencies ie still falling or broadly stable 1:155 versus the yen currently.   Still dreaming of a GTR.

Seeing the most profit comes from scheduled servicing rather than the initial sale (out here at least) it should mean better and more profitable utilisation of facilities .
