Audio unit firmware updates

Featured Replies

My car is 3.5 years old now. It's had a long standing issue playing audio from the SD card. Does anyone know if the firmware check/update is included in a full main dealer service? I've just been told it's not and charged €46 for them to look at it and fix precisely nothing...

Hold the menu button down for ~10 Seconds should reveal the current SW firmware revision etc....

What car and Headunit do you have?

It's an Octavia bith Bolero. It's running ver is 0435

I had a loan car running ver 0421 and the SD card played perfectly, so I asked the dealer to see if there was an update available and take a look at the issue. His response was "we've looked at it, there isn't an update available and we haven't fixed it. We're charging you €46 anyway"

He is telling me this is standard practice - ie charging even though they can't fix it - anyone had this before?

Skoda updated my amundsen for free?!

Exactly what model/age is the Octavia. If it is a Mk II I can see what version mine is running.

Was that under warranty?

It's a 2014 car, Mk III

Thanks

No my car is a 14 plate, but they shouldn’t charge for firmware updates.

How do you know that? If I can get that in writing I'd say I'd be laughing. I just spoke to Skoda Ireland head office. Said there's nothing they can do.

I see this on the Skoda Irish website. Seems fairly clear to me, though the dealer waffled about "doesn't include the stereo" - I paid around €500 for the Canton upgrade and sw updates not included??

Yeah I expected to pay but it was free, I went from firmware 0435 to 0490

My screen would randomly freeze but haven’t had the problem since the update.

Now you have proof that it should be free and it doesnt state the stereo is excluded I would kick off!

Now that is very interesting. My car is on ver 0435

In another car with 0421 there was no issue.

So looks like 0490 is latest? Anyone know if these versions are common across all the audio units or just the Bolero? The dealer definitely told me there were no updates available - I've been told this multiple times.

Mine is the amundsen I’d suggest phoning a different dealer.

I will but I also want my cash back as I feel I've been totally fleeced
