Can anyone please recommend a jump starter?

Featured Replies

well it may say AA but that means nothing unless sold BY the AA    I would only buy one -even if more expensive,  from someone you can trust ie: take it back if it's duff,  eg; Helfrauds, Euro '  etc,  they are all made in China but usually down to a price   there are plenty of u tube vid's which may be of some help

A cheap Chinese lithium battery fully charged on a hot summers day in a car is asking for trouble.

Buy decent thick cabled jump leads

Ftfy ;)

thought they were capacitors-  however the above still applies -if it were me

If you have to go down this route - https://www.amazon.co.uk/DBPOWER-18000mAh-Portable-Emergency-Flashlight-DJS50-Black-Red/dp/B01BEZV0IA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1519660790&sr=8-2&keywords=dbpower+portable+power

That's the one most often carried by the mechanics I trust.

Having once been sat stranded for several hours waiting for the AA, all while a whole string of cars just bimbled straight past, I wouldn't rely on even the world's best quality jump leads.

Thank you @Ttaskmasterthat is the exact information I was looking for.

I carry good quality jump leads anyway, but I wanted an emergency backup in case there were no "donor" car available.

Cheers

This is the one I have - Energiser 9000mAh Power Bank Jump Start Engine Starter.

Widely available - I got mine in Argos for about £100. Can't say whether I would recommend as I'm delighted to say I haven't had to use it yet. Reviews seem reasonable.
