Help on RNS315

Featured Replies

Can somebody clear something up for me.  I have just bought a bluetooth microphone to retrofit to my MkII Fabia VRS.  If I bought the RNS315 below would i still need to buy a bluetooth module or would it be ok with it saying bluetooth built in.

Thanks in advance

Morning, if it already has Bluetooth built into the unit then you don't need a module.

Brilliant, presumably I would just need somebody with VCDS to code in bluetooth and turn by turn on the Maxi Dot display

Yep that's the one.

you'll need a gps antenna for the sat nav too, they're not expensive.

You know where the mic goes right? In the interior light :)

Yeah i've ordered a genuine microphone and cable with the green plug at the end.  Am I right in assuming there is an open slot in the quadlock that the microphone to plug into?

Most of the units on ebay sell with a new GPS antenna but like you say it isn't that expensive to buy one anyway.

Last question on this one i swear!

Would there be any issues with functionality with installing this into my 2011 VRS if say the unit came from a 2014 vehicle.  I had read somewhere about the newer units using different protocols which could cause some issues.

Yep there's an open slot and it can only go in 1 way.

I have a 2010 vRS and my unit came from a 2014 or 2015 vehicle and that worked fine so that shouldn't be a problem :)

Brilliant, did you get it coded on VCDS by a local Briskoda member or did you have to take it somewhere to be coded?

A bought it off a member from here and he coded it for me since he was in the area but I've coded a few in myself. Most only charge beer tokens :)
