Cabin filter under dash carpet.

Featured Replies

Hi all, does anyone know how to stop this bit of carpet stuff falling out every time I hit a pothole (and I do try not to hit them...). I can see how it is supposed to fit into the recesses in the dashboard plastic but what stops it falling out like mines does? Any tips or do I just throw it in the boot?

Thanks.:crying:

Typo

Throw it in the boot. I haven't worked out how to make it stay in either. I suspect something has been pulled out by the dealer apprentice when it was "serviced" and not put back.

The older stiff expanded polystyrene cover was better, however the dealer apprentice would break it when removing, and put it back broken.

On the Octavia ii which also has a felt bit, there are a couple of plastic screw in fasteners to hold it up.

I had mine removed by a dealer during a service... Didn't notice for ages. Did used to fall though, usually when knocked by someones size tens! I sewed a bit of velcro to the underside prior to them losing it and stuck a matching piece to the underside of the cabin filter plastic casing. Did the job till the aforementioned neglect! It was an absolute bugger to sew, though as it was like heavy duty, sound deadening matting, which the needle would not pass through easily.

I will happily take a spare, unbroken one, no-one wants! I think they are about £15 new so bung it in the post and not the bin and I'll happily pay the postage!
