07 2.0fsi wirling noise

Featured Replies

Hi all I'm in a bit of a panic but hopefully it's not deserved.

Just purchased a 07 facelift 2.0 Fsi Octavia with 67k (genuine miles) ...

It's developed a wirling noise that's intermittent from the timing area (drivers side) . Noise is always there when cold seams to lessen as it warms.

I had a friend with a mechanics stethoscope on it and the noise is definitely from that general area.

Any ideas !!!!!

When was the timing belt and water pump last replaced? Could be either a fraying belt or bearings on the water pump.

4 years from the last belt replacement...  some local mechanics have said it could be some valve !!! Probably best to replace the pump belt etc
