Hi from N.Wales Scout

Featured Replies

Hello from Berwyn mountains of North Wales where I've just traded up my 2006 4x4 Octavia for a 2014 DSG Scout 4x4 (ex-Wolverhampton).

Having owned my previous for 9 years and really enjoyed it's 'bring it on' attitude to recent heavy snow (especially with its Contiwintercontact 15-tyres) I new I needed more of the same. This Scout gives me a little extra ground clearance which was so vital when pushing through the deeply drifted snow in the lanes leading to my home.

Amazing to step from the buzzing rattling and crashing old crate into this sleek slick limousine of a car. It's thick (225/50/17) tyres ideal for the rough pot-holed roads around here and the Bi-Xenon adaptive lights of great value on these winding country roads. I need the huge boot space for bales of hay and building materials - though just now I can't imagine anything making a mess of the 'just valeted'  plush black interior.

Out with the old:

I'm quite old and stayed now but with a fast and furious heritage so the Scout with DSG box is ideal. Quiet and calm and then whoooosh when you point and squirt those 184 horses. The old Oct has been so faithful and averaged 50mpg (displayed) which I'm not managing to match. Its been years since I wasn't making the gear changes so I'm taking the first couple of days steady but the sport mode did send that tingle down the spine for the minute or so I selected it.

Where I live, south of Bala, there is some superb driving roads in superb scenery (superb Wales!) - matches the superb car I seem to have now.

(Well, of course it's not a Superb it's an Octavia but 'Octavia scenery' doesn't make a lot of sense).

Loving Briskoda for years but never joined in.

See you all about and on here of course.

Hello Peter welcome along to the Skoda forum it's better on the inside ;) time for you to get a trailer me thinks :)

Hi Jed. Put the hitch on my last ride but only troubled with the trailer a few times - mostly for hauling loads of cement, blocks and gravel around our small holding. When it comes to sell the car the hitch scares people who think I've been towing horse boxes or 9m tourers.  It is an idea though - save messing up the interior. I have already emptied the piggy bank rather!

Welcome to Briskoda and what a cracking looking scout and location.
