Amundsen2 failure

Featured Replies

Hi. I've got this satnav/entertainment unit fitted at manufacture in my Yeti, which is less than 5 years ago. For no apparent reason the whole unit suddenly failed. It's been into my local dealers who ran a diagnostic check on it, but couldn't find the cause of the problem. They checked the fuses and tried to reboot it by disconnecting/reconnecting the battery, but still couldn't get it to work.

They've offered to sell me a new one, which they will fit at a total cost of £1300! Before I get an auto electrician to look at it, has anyone out there had a similar problem...and got a solution?

Many thanks,

Zooby

Are you sure it's an Amundsen 2 unit? In a 5 year old car I'd expect it to be an Amundsen or Amundsen +.

My mistake - yes it's an Amundsen+. Sorry about that. Thanks Rustynuts.

I usually only work on Columbus units, and the Amundsen (& +) units aren't something I touch really. But from what I've seen of them it might be an issue with the screen PCB meaning the unit might actually be working but the screen and buttons are dead, or it's most likely the main board. There's not much else inside them really.

However, I could probably sort you a Columbus unit for a lot less than the £1300  for a new Amundsen +. Only issue might be Bluetooth which could be built into the Amundsen and wouldn't be on the Columbus.

Edit. Whereabouts are you?
