Front electric window fix

Featured Replies

Firstly, hi everyone. Names Matt and I clunk around in a (Triggers broom style, most of the damn thing has been replaced) 2008 1.2.

Today's fun task, fix the drivers side window.

Car was off the road for a bit (money stopped play) and now I'm having big issues with the drivers window.

The issue is that the window doesn't go up straight. As it goes up it tilts forward, then stops. If I grab the top of the glass and pull it up, then it will go up but stops before the top and starts to go down again, like when there is something in the way.

I've stripped the door down as I suspect either a snapped cable or broken slider clips, but can't for the life of me work out how I'm supposed to access anything.

I've managed to get the plate with the motor on it out of the door, and it feels like the wire has jumped at least one of the pulleys but no amount of tugging, twisting, pulling and poking seems to persuade it to go back.

Does anyone have any advice on how to sort it? Links to videos especially appreciated.

Cheers

Matt
